(Architecture Work) Design A Staircase For House

  • Status: Closed
  • Prize: $110

  • Winner: jairandresrmz

Contest Brief

We've got a very small house with a high second floor and not a whole lot of space to put some stairs to get up there. Need a pretty and ideally creative solution (though mostly it's probably just going to have to be a small spiral staircase).

Looking for simple drawing in keeping with the dimensions of the space (and from the winner only, exact measurements of the finished product to give to the locals to build - no need for measurements and details just for the contest participation).

edit: measurements are in centimeters not meters as indicated - dotted outline is the staircase opening to the second floor (352 cm high) - the 246 cm intervals indicate portruding pillars in the wall - one challenge is to leave enough space between the entry way and the stairs equal at least one door with (for moving things in and out of the house of course)

You are being carried away with aesthetics designs rather than what is going to work for the house. I hope when you get to build it, you get access to your upper floor

Wow, someone really messed up there... Either your architect or your contractors, someone should not get paid for that. Can the small window just go...? Since things seem to be still under construction, how much can still be rebuilt there?

A possible solution would be to demolish the low wall on the second floor, thereby opening up the space for the staircase to land on that side.

Upstairs picture added. Due to space constraints I can't think of a good solution besides a spiral staircase. Input appreciated though! Also the house has a lot more design left so whoever wins, hope to work together on more house projects. ;)
