Contest Brief

This contest is to challenge designers to create a series of consistent designs for three attractive boxes with different sizes. The boxes will be used to discretely house electronics. No flashing lights, switches or anything that will make them look “high tech”. The concept is to have the electronics invisible, and if the boxes are noticed they just look like really nicely designed boxes. Each box must have a neatly fitting lid that is as invisible as possible. No sharp corners would be nice too.

The boxes will be 3D printed, so the winner will need to provide OBJ or STL files for the winning designs. The winner will also be offered more work in the near future, as this is one small part of a much larger project that will need lots more design work!

“Look and feel”

The MOST IMPORTANT THING is the design of the outside of the box as it’s easy to change the dimensions later. Each box needs to look as attractive as possible, and also look like they are all designed with a consistent theme. In other words, they look like a “set” that is meant to go together, even though the 3 box dimensions will be different. We are going for the same concept as Apple design principles – Apple products “look like Apple products”, even if the consumer can’t really describe how. They just do, even though they might be totally different in function. We are after the same thing – an integrated “look and feel” where our boxes will be recognizable in the future as being a “MyVillage box” (MyVillage is our brand) in the mind of the consumer.
