Contest Brief

Starting a new brand called Swellsprouts which is both an E-Sports entity and a community brand.

I am initially looking for a logo to use for E-Sports purposes, but also open to alternate designs for social media purposes. It will use it initially for a Pokemon Go PvP team, specifically a Silph Arena Factions format, which you can find more about here: https://silph.gg/updates/arena-factions

We are approaching it as a community brand more so than your usual more aggressive-looking team logo. So, I want it to be approachable and fun, but not completely passive and wimpy. It could be something cute/friendly, acting tough.

You can see my logo for my existing current brand on my Twitch Channel at jigglydad.com. You can see both what my current personal branding is, and also what I do not want. I do not want something that is obviously a particular Pokemon. We want something that alludes to the Pokemon Bellsprout without actually being too derivative. Mostly, just the same color palette and some sort of cute sprout/plant. The only other example of a similar character from another source that I can think of is the Peashooters in Plants versus Zombies, which seem to be based around the same notion of a pea sprout.

The brand at this moment is a blank slate, but we will want to make some "merch" and don't want any sort of pushback about the IP rights. So, any ideas that you have that you think would represent the brand well would be welcomed.

I want everyone to understand that I need some originality in this work. Anything that is 100% derivative of a bellsprout and/or a peashooter is not something that I can use. It has to be at least somewhat original. If it is a cut and paste bellsprout, it will get no consideration. If it is a prettied up bellsprout, I appreciate the effort, but I need originality.

We would prefer something that has some "cute" factor to it.

If you can incorporate any of the following elements, it could be a positive:
1. Some dynamic between cute and fierce, maybe even nerdy. Glasses, a sweatband, a bow-tie, etc.
2. Expressive eyes and/or mouth, not just dots.
3. Something retro to make allusion to the word swell.
4. At least one version of the logo that is clearly an E-Sports logo, not just a brand logo.

  Mert. I tried to make it clear that what I need is something that is not JUST a Bellsprout, even if it it dressed up. I want something that I can call my own, where the Pokemon Company or any other entity can not come back later and claim it as theirs. This one looks like a Bellsprout with some Goggles on it. It gets points for the effort put in, but it does not strike what I need directly.
