Contest Brief

*** New Update ***
Changing to a top contest and expending contest.
Extending Contest
Rules below are the same.

*** New Update ***
Changing the value of the contest from 50 to 150. This contest may also be extended. Same rules apply as below. Some additional info, A picture is complelty fine but please also add a little description after you post it to make sure why I know it is unique. :).

***Updating Rules***
The first entry was exactly what I was looking for. An out of the box use of the technologies. The contest is setup for a $50 winner. I think we should also award prizes, maybe $10 for submissions that don't win the contest but we're creative. Let me know in the comments if you have any concerns with that or if you want to make any changes to this contest. It's suppose to be a fun contest so I want to award out of the box thinking as well.

***Original Details***
I want to have a contest to see who can come up with the best creative idea that only involves JavaScript, CSS, and Html. It could be an innovative app like an email system that calls aliens :), (Only UI functions. No Actual backend work. Any needed data can just be static), calendar, maybe a simple game like hangman, maybe a new take on current controls, a template system, a routing system, a custom js framework that solves something no one thought about. Basically, anything goes as long as its creative and doesn't use frameworks such as jquery. The design idea (Not what it actually looks like. The contest is based on the idea and prototype, not a production ready piece) is the most important part so if its buggy that's fine.

I cant wait to see what everyone comes up with. Please don't copy something from the web. The main point is to try to do something in a different way than the norm. :)

The winner is something so simple that you know what it is without having to read a word. Something desgined visually just as you would expect it to be. Something so thought out that more time was probably put it into where to draw a wall than actually coding. Something that stands out to me because of these features that others normally overlook.
The winner of the contest is #22 for the above reasons. There were many great entries and when it comes down to the final pick, its really just my opinion. Many entries have their strengeths and weaknesses. Many of the submissions I believe are just as great as the winner so the scale tipper was actualy my own personal love of mazes. Thank you everyone for playing. It was great to see all the different ideas and I hope to continue to post similar contest projects just as a means to allow people to think creatively.

The freelancer UI can be difficult sometimes but I did check out each submission. If I missed any private comments its because they are not showing any notifications on my UI so please feel free to ask any questions you may have that I didn't answer here.

I didn't know what type of concept would win when I started and the one that did win never even crossed my mind. It isn't the most beautiful design. It isn't a complicated coding system to make the future better. It isn't ground breaking in anyway really. And at the same time it was so unexpected and a creative use of the limited tools that could be used. The winning submission does not do anything fancy, does not reinvent the wheel as far as what it is but challenges the way I think about how something should be done
In all there really were some great ideas that jumped out. Whether using a canvas to make a game by shooting blocks to a puzzle built with css to a unique way of redefining how a game UI can be designed.

Thanks everyone for participating. It's fun for me to see what other people can come up with when they are asked for something with little to no specifications. It requires a lot of visual thinking and I think this is the key to build how we interact with interfaces in the future.

:), I will wait until the end. I think the contest confused a lot of people at first because its really idea focused. Good Luck :)

3 days left. :) It looks like the highest rating ones right now are all interactive js/css based items and one idea concept of how a game literally could be written with divs in a way that is actually very efficient.

You would like something related to UI or something related to coding? Which one would you like more? And are you just talking about giving idea or we have to practically build and code that thing ourselves?

Have to code it but not production ready or anything. Just that the concept works. Just like the box. That has been in my head for years and I haven't gotten anyone to build it because its hard to describe. :)

I really like the idea. If you get bored one day and are able to go back through my posted project history, you'll see a project where that is very close to what I imagined. :)

I see two people submitted already and I see three plan to so far. I am going to write down your IDs. I am going to increase the price so more people at least take an interest to it but I want to award you 5 for participating or planning to participate before I decided to make this change. To make sure we don't violate any results, I will create projects for each of you. All that is required is what your personal thoughts are on contests like this. That's valuable information for me that I would appreciate and then it doesn't violate freelancer rules. :). Thank you 5 for showing interest before this post.

I have posted project offers to you five. If you have any questions, msg me. I see two of you I may be the first employer for. That's awesome. :). Just to make sure you know how freelancer works, the milestone that are setup are something like a prepayment to help protect you against employers with not so friendly intentions. Your milestones are for the entire price of the project. As soon as you submit (and I log back into freelancer) I will release the milestones. :) Thanks again and good luck in this contest.

@husainmill . The head looks nice and clean but I am looking or something out of the ordinary. If it does something specific that I cannot see in the image, just explain to me what it does so I can understand the concept.

Literally the design can be anything. The only rules is it must be javascript, css and html. An example could be a nav menu that is unique in some way. It doesn't have to be visual either. For instance, I just wrote a url router in javascript. This is just a fun contest more than a project driven contest. :)
