Contest Brief

1. Ground work – Find information on health conditions, wellness issues, and more in easy-to-read language on LexisRx, the up-to-date, trusted health information site.
2. Keywords: LexisRx, Health Information, Drugs and Supplements, Dictionaries, Directories, Other Resources, Health News, Featured Health Site, Clinical Trials, Senior Health, Interactive Tutorials, clinicaltrials.gov, National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health
3. Website: http://lexisrx.pharmaza.net
4. Appropriateness – The mark/logo must be relevant to the ideas and activities it represents.
5. Easy recall - You want to give onlookers the opportunity to recall the mark after just a quick glance, and that’s not possible with an overly detailed design. The trademark has to be focused in concept – have a single ‘story’ – and in most cases must be uncomplicated in form.
6. Different – Do something different – don’t blend in.
7. Consider the broader identity – Health is a serious business, be sensitive to the sick.
8. Don’t be too literal – A logo doesn’t have to show what the company does, in fact, it’s better if it doesn’t, because the more abstract the mark, the more enduring it can become.
9. Symbols aren’t essential – If used, Don’t be tempted to overdo the design flair just because the focus is on the letters. Legibility is key with any wordmark, and your presentations should demonstrate how your designs work at all sizes, large and small.
10. Make people smile – Be positive. There’s a balance, though. Take it too far, and you risk alienating potential customers.
11. Understand the competition – Before you even start working up a logo design concept, ensure you research your target market thoroughly.
12. Respect heritage – Treat people with respect.
13. Tweak and refine – Redo to satisfy yourself the mark meets the brief.
14. Strip it back to basics – Refine to add personality.
