Contest Brief

Hello. I am a psychotherapist/counsellor in private practice living on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. My business name (which I would like incorporated into a new logo) is Island Insight. I have traditionally spelled Insight as iNSiGHT on my letterhead - as the lowercase i's seemed to be like 2 stick figures looking at each other. I am not committed to this idea however. Of the 2 words, I would like the emphasis to be on iNSiGHT, not Island. I like the idea of a nature (trees or ocean) theme which also means green and blue are colours I would like to incorporate (but no palm trees or sunsets). I need the logo to be simple, only 1-3 colours, round or roundish in shape, possibly identifiable as from this area (Central Saanich on Vancouver Island), and suggesting hope/help. My work is highly influenced by Jungian Psychology (Carl Jung), so the image needs to feel archetypal and have a feeling of psychological depth to it.

In short, the key elements may include, but are not limited to: trees (arbutus, cedar or spruce), ocean, circular design, possibly 4 points like a compass (suggesting all directions), blue and green colours, and overall implying depth.

The format needs to be vector for scaling and I would own exclusive rights to the design. Much appreciated.

The reason I like a circle being incorporated into the design is because it represents completeness and connectedness.

Archetype: symbols that represents universal patterns of human nature. When we come across these images we are immediately impacted like good poetry... there's something very familiar and deep to them. For further examples, just search "Carl Jung archetypes"

The main painting in my office is Rembrandt's "Philosopher in Meditation." This captures the archetypal feeling that I mentioned in my project description. Just something to consider.

When thinking of trees in this region, think Arbutus, Sitka, or Cedar.

Hello everyone and thank you for your submissions. An extra thing to note - where I live is not tropical, so no palm trees or bamboo in the design please.
