Contest Brief

I run an online gaming community with ~350 members that supports competitive rosters for various tournaments and leagues. I have a DIY logo, but it won't work well for things like apparel and web design. Our community is called Shuriken eSports. Although we pride ourselves on being a drama free community, and strive to represent ourselves in a friendly manner, we also strive to have a reputation as being "deadly" gamers. We boast a league win percentage that is far above average.

For the logo, I would like an icon that is a shuriken, but something creative and unique. Perhaps something in the general shape of an S, or at least a shuriken that gives the impression of an S, while still looking sharp, or deadly. "Shuriken eSports" should be included in the logo in an oriental or martial arts style font, and in a location that it can be cropped out to leave only the icon itself if needed. I would like the source file (preferably in Photoshop) so I can experiment with the name being either under or in front of the shuriken icon.

I would like the icon itself to be versatile enough to be used in a vector style (one flat color for jersey/shirt designs) or with color and slight detail that helps it look more like a weapon, while still being clean or perhaps cartoony enough to make sense as an eSports logo. While saying that, I might still prefer something metallic looking if it's more refined or professional looking than what I have. I won't know for sure until I see it. I hope that all makes sense!

I'll attach our current logo. But the shuriken I used is too textured and, while not photorealistic exactly, it just does not fit in as an esports logo.

    I've tried to give 3 star ratings to designs that I think are somewhat unique, and 4 star ratings to designs that I think are unique and are almost something we could use. The hardest part of this design will be the shuriken icon itself. We aren't looking for a star with an S inside of it. We are looking for a blade in the shape of an S, that could act as a "throwing star" or projectile weapon. It should look intimidating, but be enough in the shape of an S that you can use it as the "S" in the word "Shuriken" and it would look clever, and also iconic enough that when seen by itself, an eSports fan would say, "That's the Shuriken eSports logo." Batman has his iconic bat-shaped shuriken. We need our iconic shuriken that people can identify just as easily. Please make sure the font is in a Japan/martial arts style. Our colors are black and white, with silver (or metal) as an optional third. Thank you for your submissions!

    Template entries will not work. Please read the description. The icon should look like a unique shuriken design. A shuriken is the "ninja star" or "throwing star" weapon. But it can be in any number of shapes as long as it's throwable and sharp. I'm looking for a weaponized S shape shuriken.
