Contest Brief

The visualization is a single page that helps to easily describe the study - can be tweeted, posted on Facebook, etc. As you can see many of these are not very visually appealing - looking for something that will help tell our story, flow well and

Audience: Surgeons and other medical professionals

We studied 4,847 infants who underwent laparoscopic (small incision) vs. open (larger incision) pyloromyotomy (cutting of the pylorus or sphincter that helps empty the stomach)

We found the following:
48% reduction in surgical site complications (wound infections, etc) for laparoscopic approach
44% reduction in post-operative length of stay (less time in the hospital after the operation) for laparoscopic approach
No difference in related readmissions or reoperations (meaning that after children were discharged they stayed at home and after their operation they did not have another operation) between laparoscopic vs. open approaches
Laparoscopic approach favored over open

I would prefer not to skew anyone in any particular direction - there are standard formats covered in the links

Would like to encourage creativity - different layouts can be suggested but given the award size, I would focus on icons to describe the outcomes and color schemes - the goal is to use design to improve the abstracts visibility and readability to broader audiences
