Over the Thanksgiving break, choose and read a book from the below list and write a book review.
BOOK LIST-Attached document
Here’s a list of possible titles you can read for your Book Review assignment. You can also come up with a non-fiction book dealing with journalism or by a journalist on your own
Here’s a link to the New York Times book review, which should give you an idea of what I'm looking for:

Remember – I want a book REVIEW not a book REPORT. This means that you should not just write what happened in the book, but about its relationship to things we’ve discussed in class about journalism. Did you think the book was good? Was the storytelling compelling? Is the book well reported? Are there holes in the reporting? Did the writer pursue a “process of verification?” Are there ethical issues brought up by the book? Etc.
The books on the list all have, to one degree or another, a journalist pursuing a big project. Sometimes the authors are very present in the book and sometimes not. There should be something on the list for everyone, but if there is a book a student wants to read that’s not on the list but fits with the assignment, I’m usually game to allow them to add titles to the list.
Since this is the last graded blog assignment, I am asking for it to be a bit longer than normal (also to give you the space to provide an adequate review). The post should be between 1000 and 1300 words.
