We are in need of someone to add products to our Volusion-based ecommerce store. All products are related to dogs (dog beds, dog collars, etc.).
This initial project is for 100 items to be uploaded as a trial run so that we can make sure that we are a good fit with the selected freelancer. If we are able to find the right person, this will become ongoing work. We have a backlog of around 1500 items to upload, so that will be the next project prior to this becoming ongoing work.
We need someone with excellent Volusion skills, Photoshop image re-size skills, who adheres to deadlines, and who pays strong attention to details. We will provide links to our manufacturer's sites (or in some cases we'll provide PDF or Excel catalogs) and from that we'll need the product information pulled and entered into our catalog. In most cases we will need you to also pull the product photo from the manufacturer's site, resize it in Photoshop to fit Volusion requirements, and then upload the photo to the product page.
Many products also have variables (size, fabric, color, etc.), so we will need the selected person to also create the option categories and options (including calculating and assigning the cost difference per our instructions), then assign the options to the respective products. In cases of fabric or color options, you may need to create or re-size swatch images and assign them to the applicable product option. We will provide the basic information for each set of products so that you are setting up each product page completely (category, manufacturer name, availability, price, gift wrap price, hidden settings, inventory control table settings, etc.). In most cases, you will NOT need to enter product descriptions or any sizing charts; we will take care of that.
Again, we do need someone who pays close attention to details, is able to pull & decipher product information from various sites or files, and who is very familiar with data entry in Volusion.
In terms of the product entry, you may do it one of two ways (whichever is easiest for you)--
1) Manually, one-by-one. You would have login permissions with access to the products and options.
2) As a CSV file import. In this case would would give you additional login permissions to export reports. Once you have compiled the information for upload we will do the import ourselves so that you are not taking on the responsibility of accidentally deleting our catalog. (Once the CSV file is imported, you would then go in to add the photos accordingly, edit options if not done in CSV, etc.)
For your bid, please bid it based upon a block of 100 products entered. Some products will have variables and others will not, so the time for each item will vary according to the complexity. Your bid should roughly reflect what you would charge on an ongoing basis for each 100 products entered; however, we will be paying on a per-product basis for the ongoing work. For example, let's say we agreed to $20 for 100 products (you may bid more than $20; we're just using that as an easy example). If we have you enter 125 products from one manufacturer, we would pay $25. If you entered 75 products, we would pay $15.
Thank you in advance for your consideration in taking on this project! Feel free to PM with any questions.
