Drupal and Taxonomy Terms

For your convenience, we are outlining the project here. ================================= Project ================================= We need a feature patch for a small module "Taxonomy Set Lineage" (TSL) or rewrite of this module. To allow the node edit form to save all parent terms (lineage), when the term field "Number of values" is set to 1. Here is another user who wants the same thing : The [login to view URL] We prefer patching TSL (because the maintainer is willing to look at it), but completely ok any other way. Or even template or custom module functions ok. ================================= Summary ================================= We require using "Simple hierarchical select" (SHS) for term selection, which is set to "force user to select deepest level". With SHS, when user selects Banana, the parent terms are not saved see [login to view URL] . So we turn to the TSL module, which allows saving all parent terms (lineage). However, "since we only need the user to select 1 term", ie Banana. TSL is not able to set the parents, ie Food, Fruit, because the term "Number of values" needs to be set to 3 or unlimited. This is where we need your help. I noticed other modules easily getting around this restriction, by implementing the _form_field_ui_field_edit_form_alter function. However, I don't know if this is even a viable solution. These modules are [login to view URL] and date_repeat_field.module. We tried with Hierarchical Select, which does provide this functionality out of the box. It works beautifully. However, we need to use SHS. ================================= Requirements ================================= Drupal 7 SHS ================================= Our Setup ================================= Here is our setup: Field Collection Field: Smoothie Sample - field_fc_smoothie - Field Collection - Embeddedd (Unlimited Values) The two Field Collection fields are: Smoothie Name - field_fc_smoothie_name - Entity Reference - Autocomplete (1 Value) Smoothie Type - field_fc_smoothie_type - Term Reference - SHS (Force user to select deepest level) (1 Value) Where Smoothie Type vocab terms are many but the following samples will suffice: Food - Fruit - Apple Food - Fruit - Orange Food - Fruit - Grapes Food - Fruit - Banana SHS is set to "force user to select deepest level". And the SHS term field value is set to 1. When user is forced to select one term Apple, it will also save Food and Fruit. Field collection shouldn't be an issue as the problem is with SHS and TSL.
