Hello, If you are only using 5V, try 945-1648-5-ND from Digikey. It is 92% efficient and cheap, so it saves you board space and heat. Also, on the 485 chip, the R should be 120 Ohm, and the line you have pulled to +5 should be controller by the CPU or you will never be abe to receive data. You can use a smaller pincount ATMEGA if you want, plus it would be better if your reset circuit is not hard-wired to plus. How do you plan on programming it? Best regards, Stuart Borden.

As per my understanding, scope of this project is to design a PCB for attached schematic based upon Atmega328.. It looks like RS485 serial interface. The MCU is good and can be further used. Necessary voltage regulator as per schematic will provided. Plz suggest, if ISP interface also needed. I can extend all other pins on the edges. Design step will have schematic update in tool. After that optimized routing will be done, Gerber Files will be generated and prototyping will done and shipped. The deliverable will include source files, schematic and layout, BoM and Gerber data. Hello! I'm find your project interesting, so that's why I'm here. I'm have the firrst look at your project, and I'm find some problems, that can makes this device doesn't work or unstable. -On power section- stabilisers can oscillate -On RS-485 interface- no current limit (it can become a big flash if there is static electricity on net), no terminator (connection can become unstable because of signal reflection on this end of net) -On MCU section- no reset circuit. Well, it can work, but can become unstable. Also, there is no ISP header. May be no problem, if you want to eject MCU chip, and flash it into the some sort of programmer. Also, I'm suggest you to use ATMega8-16AU (aka ATmega8A-AU) as MCU, if it have enough memory for your tasks. It have TQFP (SMD) case, so it cheaper and take less space. Anyway, we can discuss about everything in process.
