Dear Danieleg91.

I hope you are well. I like your profile very much and I think you are very capable of doing this project.

I am attempting a very basic thermal modelling using ANSYS. Its a very basic analysis but Its taking me very long to find my way as I am new and need guidance. I will be very grateful if you could help me do it or at leastplease point me in the right direction.

I am a final year M Eng Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Bath and doing my final year project on Energy harvesting applications of Pyroelectric materials.

My model is as follows:

A ceramic (disk shaped) is placed under an IR lamp and heated using the radiation from the lamp. The sides of the ceramic is open to ambient air and the ceramic itself is placed on a wooden block.

From what I think, the ceramic is under the influence of radiation on the top surface, convection on the sides and top surface and conduction only at the bottom (contact with wood).

I thought using an axis-symmetric model would be logical. Using PLANE 55 elements and making the area that is half the cross section.

I am having trouble inputting radiation to the top surface. Do I need to add another element (SURF 151) which links radiation to PLANE 55 elements?

If you haven't used ANSYS before its not a problem, can you please refer em to a friend? I am happy to pay for the help, all I need is some guidance with doing this and we can may be talk on skype and do this.

Please let em know soon as my deadline is approaching.

Ill be very grateful for your help.
