Wordpress VS Drupal?
Well, I’m sure a lot of you are wondering which path to take, and with the community in Wordpress and Drupal all evangelizing their CMS solution as God’s gift to mankind, you’ve come to the right place. I’m going to give you an impartial look into these two. Now, I’ve been working with the two for a few years now and trust me, they’re both good and are both extensible but… Lets get into what’s right for you.
First off, if you’re absolutely a non-techie with absolutely zero knowledge, and you’re looking to get started fast with a lot of “off the shelf” capabilities then by all means, go with wordpress, it’ll save you a lot of headache, pain and money.
Now, if you already have a fantastic design out of this world design, you’re looking for something more. Something more customizable, something that you can take further than what you get out there, you’re looking for drupal.
Now don’t get me wrong, Drupal is beautiful and so customizable but therein lies the problem, if you look at it, you’ll find out that it’s made more for people with a little bit of technical know how or developers or people with the funding to hire a developer and customize their sites for them. Drupal modules, seldom have demos of the modules and are also seldom accompanied with screenshots or screencasts on how the modules work, or how the modules look once they’re installed.
The beauty with wordpress is, they are very very end-user friendly, but that’s not all, so let me share a secret with you.
