Alright!
This is an idea that I've had in my head for some time.
Early in the Space Race, the Soviets tested living capabilities for spaceflight by sending dogs into space. Laika is a well-known example of a dog sent to space.
So, that's the very BASE of my idea. Here we go.
-I want something that evokes the loneliness of the dog in the spacecraft
-I want Earth to be clearly in the picture
-This could take the form of the view the dog had inside the craft (while still somehow introducing the dog), or it could be a simple image of the dog through a window of the craft, with earth in the background.
Most of the dogs sent up were left to die, at least early on. I'm not looking for overt tones of loneliness, sadness, death, none of that. I want it subtle!
The actual expression of the dog is totally up to creative expression on your part. The dog can look like a dog: Happy, oblivious; Sad, introspective... It all depends on what emotion YOU as the artist attempt to convey. I'm open to a lot of interpretations. I could imagine a happy, oblivious dog in space, and I can also imagine a very lonely, fretful dog, and even a dog that has no real expression, just looking into space.
I will ESPECIALLY entertain Front/back designs that incorporate (on the front) the view the dog has inside the craft, while the back holds the larger view of the craft+earth+the dog.
I'd really like hand-drawn images. If you can handle this completely digitally, more power to you. I'd love to see colorless sketches before any color is added in, if possible. If not, no problem! I'd love to give feedback during the process as well!
If any clarification or explanation is needed, don't hesitate to ask!
