I am trying to create a website that has a social network type of function. i am a clinical psychologist with NO technical experience and am trying to decide whether I should try use website service such as Social Go or SocialEngine on my own, or whether I should hire an individual freelancer for assistance. The website would be one that is a paid membership site (with so me pages available to the public and some only to members of the site) and enables members to post information, search others members ([login to view URL] zip code), and connect with the members they wish. I would also like members to have the ability to form groups or possibly post events. I would like to have a blog and provide pages with other relevant content/information.

Hello Sir, I am Nisar, experienced in Web development. My recommendation for you as i had similar kind of experience in past and based on that i am going to share information. 1. Use any of the 2 social networking tools you provided, dont go for custom , you will waste lots of money and time 2. if you rely on these 2 platforms cloud based service then thats ok, but they charge monthly fee and all that which is not good so best thing is to buy the software from them but add on your own domain+hosting , so in that way you will have to spend only once on some freelancer etc. i hope you understand my points. take care. thanks
