Overview:
I am seeking to create something very similar to Yelp, that would present items with user ratings and associated attributes. However, instead of presenting restaurants etc. it would present different learning events (which may fall into the following categories – Capabilities, Skills/Tools, Domains, or Other. An example of a category might be, “Strategic Management” an example of a Skill/Tool might be “Spotfire” an example of a Domain but be “Army Acquisitions” and Other would encompass learning events that do not fit neatly within the aforementioned categories. Each item within each category will have sub-items. For example, under the Capability “Strategic Management”, there might be a sub-capability called, “Balanced Scorecard.”
Upon registering, users request and must be granted approval by the Effort PoC for site access as a part of a specific “Effort.” Each Effort is created and aligned by the site Admin to specific categories and sub-categories. Users may only view content that is relevant to their aligned effort and inherited categories and sub-categories. For example, an approved user who is aligned to an effort called “Business Analytics” will be able to see all learning events associated with “Business Analytics” – as determined by the site Admin.
Users may review Learning Event detail and ratings and may add a Learning Event to their “Learning Plan” and submit to their Effort manager for approval (generating an email notification to the manager). The manager may approve or disapprove (generating email notification to the user). Users may demonstrate a Learning Event as complete when he or she submits a rating and comment for it.
All Learning Event information only to be exportable to Excel (to include attributes, ratings, comments, etc).
I am currently seeking a web portal be created only, but upon development of this first version, I intend broaden under a new project with the following:
-enhance manager dashboard and displays with site statistics and charts
-replicate functionality and experience with a mobile app
