Design a robot capable of climbing a vertically hung rope to a height of 8m while carrying a load of
2 standard size engineering bricks. It must automatically stop at a height of 8m, then wait 30
seconds during which the bricks are manually removed before automatically reversing and finally
stopping at the bottom. The rope is not secured or weighted at the bottom and is allowed to hang
freely
Deliverables:
You are expected to produce and submit one individual formal report to a maximum of 4000 words
that must contain:
? Initial design sketches
? a finalised sketch of your proposed solution showing initial ideas.
? analysis of design criteria and development of the final design.
? description of the materials used, fittings required and assembly details. Your choices must
be justified.
? Manufacturing processes involved in volume production of the device
? Costings
Please note you do not have to build the item, nor do you need to show a logbook, but you must
show costings and practical design sketches in the report.
A pass will be awarded for a clear exposition of each of the above points and a demonstration of
necessary basic critique required to develop the final design.
