Android HTTP(S) class required for 2.x (inc Gingerbread)

Below is from my last project. The previous developer did not test on all 2.x versions of Android and the code supplied fails on 2.3 (Gingerbread). I need the same functionality as below but working for Android versions 2.0 through to 2.3. Also for clarification, I will need to use the class(es) in 2 ways: 1 - POST method to HTTPS page with username and password 2 - GET method without credentials I can supply old code if required. A proof of concept casn be included with your bid if you like. Proof of concept should just have 3 user fields (HTTPS URL, username, password) and a textview to display the raw HTML results. The results can be truncated to 10 lines for the proof of concept. The final version should display all the content. ---------------------- My current class for http and https is failing with "no trusted server certificate" errors. I need a new class created so that I can retrieve content from a webpage, some may have username/passwords.
