This application would be used by an insurance company to enable the policy holders to authorize and accept the premium payments though their credit cards. At the time of signing up the policy holders will be given an option to authorize the company to automatically charge their credit cards against the premium payments due. The application database will store the account and credit card information of the clients. The information that will need to be entered, updated and maintained include the name of the client, details of his policy like the plan, the premium, the mode (half yearly/yearly etc), due date etc. , his credit card details and a remarks field. (The policy details will include all the relevant details- like Date of Commencement, Date of Maturity etc). The above information is added and updated on a daily basis to keep the records updated. These records may also be used to help the company manage and administer it's policy holders. The most important functionality envisaged for this application is the batch authorization and status feedback of credit card payments. The application uses ASCII files in pre-set formats (specifications provided by the bank and included in this document) to interact with the bank's computer systems. The ASCII files generated by the application are uploaded into the bank's application to enable it to process the payments. Once the processing is complete, the banking application in turn generates another set of ASCII files with updates on the status of the processing. These files will be placed in a specific location or uploaded into the proposed application. The proposed application has to parse the ASCII files and update it's database with the feedback provided by the banks. The application should be able to provide reports on the details and totals of payments processed and about the ones which are rejected. Platform: Windows desktops.
