Looking for an application that allows us to update products in an MS access DB or MS SQL DB from a CSV, or XML file. ASP.net would be first choice but open to other options. Scenario is this: We run a ecomm site and are required to maintain an Access DB of 15,000+ products. The products are constantly changing and we are given the updated data in the form of a CSV file or XML file. One constant in the DB is the product number which is the primary key. Product numbers never change and are never duplicated. Product prices can change as well as in stock counts. New Products can be added and old products need to removed on a daily basis. What we are looking for is an application that will allow us to import the CSV / XML file and compare it against the existing data in the access DB. We then would like to have the ability to update and or change data in the DB based off the difference between the two. Example1: Product widgit-A has a price 0f $15 and the quantity available is 15. The latest CSV data show this: Product widgit-A has a price of $17 and the quantity available is 27. We need a front end app that can take the updated data from the CSV file and update the DB with the new data based on the product number which is always constant. Another option that we would like is the ability to remove products from the DB when they are no longer active in the updated CSV file. Also have the option to add new Products from the CSV files that don’t exist in the DB. We would like this application to work with both MS Access and MS SQL. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Wednesday Dec 3, 2008 9:37:37 PM: Thanks for all the response. Here is what I'm looking for in more detail. Please follow up if you think you can accomplish this and with what method. I download the data from a distributor on a daily basis. The data can come down in CSV, XML, or TAB Delimited file format. I need an application that can take that data and update an MS access DB or MS SQL DB. Currently use MS Access but might be migrating to SQL server down the road. The data that comes down will consist of +/- 15,000 products. Some days there might be only a few changes, other days it could be 100's of changes. The CSV file could possibly have from 10 - 32 columns with data consisting of: product number, buy price, description, shipping weight, quantity in stock, etc. The products table in the DB has 53 different columns but not all of the fields are used or necessary for the site to function. I want the application to allow the end user to easily map the column headers from the CSV file to the corresponding column before updating the data. They are named differently in the DB than what will be in the downloaded CSV file. Step1: Compare the new data in the CSV file against the existing data in the DB. Find differences in product based on the product number (primary key) and remove any product records from the DB that are no longer in the CSV file. Record changes to a log file. Step2: Compare the new data in the CSV file against the existing data in the DB. Find differences in product based on the product number (primary key) and add any product records from the CVS that are not already in the DB. Record changes to a log file. Step3: Compare the new data in the CSV file against the existing data in the DB. Find differences in product based on the product number (primary key) and give the ability to update individual columns based on differences between the new data and existing DB. Example Stock management: Quantity available will change daily, need to be able to update the INSTOCK column in the DB with the corresponding Column from the CSV file. Record changes to a log file. Step4: There will be 4 price related columns in the DB. Once the "buy price" column is populated by the above procedure, I need to populate a "mark up" column based on "buy price". Depending on the “Buy price??, the markup % will change. Here is an example of the equation used to calculate markup percentage, (this was used in an excel spreadsheet) =IF(I2>=2000,"1.07",IF(I2>=500,"1.08",IF(I2>=300,"1.1",IF(I2>=200,"1.2",IF(I2>=100,"1.3",IF(I2>=50,"1.4",IF(I2>=0,"1.5"))))))) Once the markup percentage is calculated, the Markup column needs to be populated with the percent of markup Ex: 1.07 would be 7%. Next the "Sell Price" column needs to be populated by multiplying the "Buy Price" X "Markup" = "Sell price". Last the "Profit" column needs to be populated by subtracting "Buy Price" form the "Sell Price" I am open to any platform that can get this accomplished. A web-based app would be preferable, ASP, ASP.net. I host the site myself on a Windows Server 2003, IIS. What ever app gets developed, I need it to be extremely user friendly so that less experienced users can update the data. ## Platform Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista MS Access, MS SQL 2000, MS SQL 2005 ASP, ASP.net, PHP IIS 6
