I would like to have a small modification done to the BIND 9.x source code (from [url removed, login to view]).
I'd like to create a 'magic' A record that when queried for would give an answer record with the requestors ip address... For instance, if you query for the A record of '[[url removed, login to view]'] and the authoritative dns server has '[url removed, login to view]' as the rrdata it would swap that for the requestors ip address. I would want any A records (from any response) with [url removed, login to view] (or some other magical ip) to instead return the ip address of the resolver that requested it. This will be used for some diagnostics, debugging, as well as some research purposes. I understand that the source ip might be an isp caching server or the direct end user - this is part of the project.
The BIND source code is freely available from [url removed, login to view] and is written in C. A modification to 9.3.1 would be most appropriate. (<[url removed, login to view]>)
1) Complete and fully-functional working patch for BIND 9.x source code of all work done to accomplish task. Single patch files should be submitted that are changed source from original.
2) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). Coder agrees that possibilities of including this patch in future versions of BIND and/or other dns servers are possible.
All existing O/S capable of running BIND 9.x.
