I will be purchasing the data contained in OJIN(Oregon Judicial Information Network) from The State of Oregon. Everything which has occurred in Oregon State Courts since the late 80’s will be contained. The data will be sent to me on 27 DVD’s, so in excess of 100 gigs of raw data in a fixed length format, will be arriving. The state will send an update on one DVD each month They sent a sample data file and 2 Excel files which explain field names and lengths. They also sent info which explains the keys to relationships. I am attaching these files. The database query method chosen will have to be flexible so that periodic changes can be added. Initially we’ll use the database to produce leads to mail solicitation letters, attempting to purchase unsatisfied money judgments. For instance we might query the system to extract all the small claims, unsatisfied judgments, in Multnomah County. There would be thousands which would be placed into a spreadsheet, from which letters could be printed and mailed. Another query would be done on a statewide search to extract any court activity on an individual name. Also, sometime in the near future, we will be allowing remote user access(initially to a few, but ultimately to as many as hundreds. I would expect to own the code, once completed. I would like to have this database fully functional ASAP. I really need answers to the following: 1. What type of database should I focus on? We were focusing on Mysql, would this be a good choice? 2. What can I expect to pay for this database creation? 3. Can the work be accomplished remotely? 4. How long will the job take?
