I need to capture sound from a microphone. This project is NOT for coding. I need to find an existing solution on the market: Stable, well-tested and very cross-compatible. Give me your recommendation of two or three devices on the market that meet these requirements and that you consider best-choices. Of course, if you have worked with them or have some other experience from them, this will be very helpful. Here are the basic requirements. The device has to be able to: * capture sound from microphone connected to mic-in or line-in * handle all common microphones on the market. * handle all common operating systems on the market. * be configured to capture in different bitrates, sample frequencies * capture in mono * save and/or stream the signal in mp3 and wav * the captured signal should be the same independent of the hardware configuration the user has. This is more important then the quality of the signal; So if one user has a great configuration capable of producing a very good signal, it should be decreased to the same quality as other configurations. Also: * The device should preferably be in Java (this is not required, please recommend another language it you find it better). * It might be free, share-ware or commercial, but I need to be allowed to edit the source code.
