We have an application made in VB. It includes internet connection, file download, a special third-party dll and locale language settings (swedish information texts in alert dialogues to the user). We have a problem creating an installer that all clients can download and install. Especially windows XP Home users. We need an installer that can install the application in the clients computer. It MUST NOT overwrite newer files in the clients computer if he has upgraded it by downloading a security patch or similar. when uninstalling, it MUST NOT destroy other functionality in the clients computer. It should be able to register the neccessary system dll:s in the clients computer and it should be able to set register settings. We should also be able to manage the installer script after delivery. That is, we want both a ready to install application and a script so we can create new packages in the future ourselves. We suggest use of the null software installer package or similar, that is free to use, or for a moderate amount of money. Today, we have tried and failed with the free version of advanced installer. The installer today can be downloaded here: [login to view URL] It is a must that you are able to analyze the exact dependencies the package needs so that all the necessary dll-s are shipped with the application and that no unneccessary dll:s are shipped within it. The deadline can be extended but I would like a quick result for the start.
