Crystal Report on-the-fly

I recently came across a project (VB/access) which uses one blank Crystal report file(dsr) and creates all the reports on the fly based on that report. Even the connection is used thru connection string. This I've figured out how to do from other reports on that project. But I cannot figure out how to link a subreport to each record of the main report. say, you have a list of names and related phone numbers. the phone numbers list is the subreport which is to link to each name. I just want a working copy of this.

if there's expenses attatched with each bed, linked to the main report by bed no., how do you define the link?
