Last month we purchased the rights to a software program from a company that went out of business. The company came out with a patch that fixes a common problem that users have with the software. Users used to be able to just download the update themselves before the company's servers went down; however, now that the company no longer handles updates, we have to email our customer's the update patch individually.
This is a pain and we would like to automate the process. We will send the winning bidder a copy of the installation software as well as the update patches. This is what we need done:
1.) Create a .exe installation package that looks identical to the one we are sending you
2.) Construct the .exe installation package to first install the original installation program normally
3.) Then have the installation package copy two patches to one folder (which we will specify) and the third patch to a different folder (which we will also specify)
4.) The patches will overwrite old files, and we do not want the customer's to receive a prompt asking whether it is ok to overwrite the old files. Make the .exe installation package that you construct automatically overwrite the old files so the customer never knows the program is updating.
We want them to just have to launch the installation package and let it run like they were installing it normally. We've attached a copy of the installation files and patches to this bid request so you can review it.
