Crop, resize and fit product images onto supplied template

We have 2763 images used for eBay product listing. We have designed a square graphic as a template (supplied in PSD/AI/EPS as preferred) that has a text area at the top and bottom and area in the middle where we want the product images to appear. Around 20% of the images have some white space which needs to be cropped out before the images can be placed onto the template. Some of the product images are portrait layout and some are landscape layout. We want the product photos resized, cropped (where necessary for a good fit) and placed into the image template so that the products fit in the area of the template allocated. For landscape images we will allow a maximum of 10 pixels to the left and right of the product image and for portrait images we will allow a maximum of 10 pixels between the product images and the header/footer in the template. We will allow a maximum of 10 pixels of white space between the header and the product image, and the product image and the footer once it is placed on the template.
