Im an aerospace engineer and an quadcopter enthusiast. It seems this project is something that I myself have been planning to do, I know to build and fly a multirotor but my need some expert in video transmission for an Idea I have. Anyway I will discuss that later.
Coming to your design, I think the power consumption of a multirotor is quite high, having a solar panel might not be useful for the flight but can be used to power auxiliary systems. Can you please let me know the purpose of this drone? is it a professional camera platform or a consumer electronic product that you are planning, this information will help me decide the stability and autonomous landing features required.
Process involved
1. Preliminary drone engineering design, mass calculation, energy requirement and flight envelope planning.
2. Concept sketch design and adapting it to fit our engineering design and electronics ( provided by you, I will assist with navigation and control software that will help maintain drone stability).
3. Component design and selection and analysis( analysis to determine the strength and endurance of critical design areas) - detailed design
4. Prototype build ( this is not a part of this project bid, just further steps in the planning process, I can do this if you want me to.)
5. Design changes ( if required , from prototype build.)
6. Final manufacture design.
