Hi, This is an interesting project. I have quite a lot of experience in UAV design. Im currently working on another drone design, this is a fixed wing UAV though. Another attempt is to create a vary long range quadcopter - 15 mile range., this is a new challenge we are looking to accomplish. apart from this Im an aeronautics engineer and a RC hobbyist. Since you are asking for a manufacture-able Quadcopter , more weightage to design and cost saving. first we need to decide concept sketch and design then weight and energy required third would be to select the right components , choose suppliers and finally prototype build and design revisions if any. feel free to contact me regards GE

Hi Im an aerospace engineer and an quadcopter enthusiast. It seems this project is something that I myself have been planning to do, I know to build and fly a multirotor but my need some expert in video transmission for an Idea I have. Anyway I will discuss that later. Coming to your design, I think the power consumption of a multirotor is quite high, having a solar panel might not be useful for the flight but can be used to power auxiliary systems. Can you please let me know the purpose of this drone? is it a professional camera platform or a consumer electronic product that you are planning, this information will help me decide the stability and autonomous landing features required. Process involved 1. Preliminary drone engineering design, mass calculation, energy requirement and flight envelope planning. 2. Concept sketch design and adapting it to fit our engineering design and electronics ( provided by you, I will assist with navigation and control software that will help maintain drone stability). 3. Component design and selection and analysis( analysis to determine the strength and endurance of critical design areas) - detailed design 4. First off my name is Kurtis Towery. I have a degree in mechanical drafting technology. My major hobby has been flying RC planes for the past 9 years and flying quad copters for the past year. I have literally researched the different aspects of quadcopters for the past year. I would start the design process by talking with you about what exactly you are looking for in the design such as, the frame type or shape and material, and finding out the exact size of the camera and the weight of all the electronics to determine what size of frame you would need and the wattage needed. Once I know that I could find the correct motor prop speed controller combination needed that is efficient and robust enough for your situation. Another thing we would have to consider is at what price point your going for. You can go for a more budget price with cheaper components such as motors or frame materials or go for a top of the line budget with the best at a higher cost. Once I know the size and the quality desired I can start the design. I would first research and find the exact motors and other electronics and then start the process of designing the frame around those parts. I think with the camera work you will need a hexacopter or bigger due to the weight if it's much bigger than a Gopro just to give you more power. I can create the design in AutoCAD LT 2015 and then make 3D models in Google Sketchup. I have built my quadcopter by buying my own parts so I have the know how to help you.

I have expertise in Pro-E, CADISON, AutoCAD 3D, Prosteel V8i, CADWORX, SolidWorks; architecture experience in small home and play schools projects.
