Data Challenge

This is quite similar to a pet project I am developing in R in which I analyze data from The GDELT Project. I'll have to develop the first 3 steps within an R markdown document, if only so I don't get lost in the size of it all. If you intend to use a form of presentation other than R Markdown document, you'll have to copy the code into whatever form of presentation you wish. For step 4, we can use the Shiny R package for the 'interactive' route, or if we take one of the other two routes I can include step 4 in the Rmd document. I'd be happy to choose between the 3 possible routes in step 4 after I explore the data, or if you already have your own vision for that, I'd be happy to write the code to describe it.
