Hello,
I am looking for a programmer that can make a simple search and replace script (regardless of the language as long as I don't need to install any major programs).? The script will consist of taking a text file? consisting of one column with 50,000 records that will match against a dbf file consisting of several columns with over one million records.
My preference would be to run this in command line through perl or an executable file. The script has to be fast in order to run through the large files and
Definitions:
Text file - The text file will only have one column with the matching header name with the dbf file.? It will consist of data (one word or number per line).
Dbf file - The dbf file will consist of 50 different columns, out of which there will be one? column? that will match with the text file.? The dbf file will have over a million records to search from.
I need a script that will take a large text file of about 50,000 records (under one column header), match it against a huge dbf file of over a million records.? When the record matches against the specific header,
remove data under the matching header from the dbf file and keep everything else as is.? Nothing? else? should change on the dbf file and everything should stay? as is except for the matched record under the? specified column.
There will be duplicates of the matched file, which will obviously need to be removed as well.? I cannot share the data with you, but this is a real easy test.?
All you need to do is make a dbf file with multiple columns and rows (atleast a 1000 records) than copy them multiple times within the dbf file to make a really large file.? Than copy one of the columns to a text file. Once you run the script the specific column that you copied into the text file should essentially remove all data from the matching dbf file under the matched column header.
Remember the script has to run fast and it cannot be slow because the amount of records need to be matched and replace in less than? a few mins.
I don't want to install any large third party software and if possible have this done in command prompt language. Script needs to be able to designate the dbf file and the text file. Will pay a bonus if done within 5 days time.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Nick
