I'm looking to create a Autodesk Maya MEL script (Well... actually finish one) that emits color and density from nParticles onto objects with 2d fluid textures. The goal is to create a dynamic system that uses particles to paint textures on geometry.
Here's a thread the explains the full scope of what I'm trying to do and my current hurdle (See the 3rd page to see my current problem)

It seems simple enough, and I've already got most of the script.
//Creating alpha map
float $u = [login to view URL];
float $v = [login to view URL];
float $emitRate = 0.5;
if( $u != -1.0 && $v != -1.0 ){
float $rx = [login to view URL];
float $ry = [login to view URL];
int $xi = $u * ($rx-1);
int $yi = $v * ($ry-1);
setFluidAttr -at "density" -ad -fv $emitRate -xi $xi -yi $yi fluidTexture2DShape1;
}
But it still needs work to emit color.
If anyone would be available for a Skype call sometime so we could work out the details that would work best.
Hello HappehLemons!
I see you are desperate to do this script and I see that you have very good help. Duncan is the right guy to give advice. So I am able to help you. I read the whole topic at [login to view URL] (I haven't been there for a while) and found out that the link to mega with your scene does not work but I made a simple test and it should work for you.
If you want to know what I am capable to do with MEL then you should see my custom excavator rig available here (the later part is more interesting):
