I have a existing tracking and counting libraries, in linux, for C++ OpenCV 2.4 through 3.1... My tracking/counting libraries can count moving objects (pedestrians, cars) in *many* different ways, depending on your hardware setup, camera and angle. For the Beaglebone, we'll need to use an optimised, low-CPU method (probably pixel-flow based). I would include the counter's linux command line help docs but they are too big for this bid text. And my counting and tracking libraries have extensive Doxygen C++ API docs. I have done OpenCV development on Raspberry Pi before which is similar to Beaglebone (ARM, linux, no GPU). I did that remotely using ssh login access to do the installation and testing. In my mind, RTSP is a big issue here. Why? Because, while OpenCV should theoretically read RTSP streams with cv::VideoCapture , in actuality, OpenCV's RTSP support is weak, and very unreliable. (Uses ffmpeg library.) I've never seen RTSP work with OpenCV. I have had much better success with MJPEG streams over http.... Using a library like openRTSP however might be a good "plan b". If OpenCV's RTSP fails us, then openRTSP may work. Questions... a) Do you have a sample pedestrian video clip I can process with my counter to demo it for you. I'll send back a processed demo video... Then you can see it in action. b) do you have a sample rtsp::/ stream url which I can test with now? c) If we cannot read frames into OpenCV with RTSP, can you use http + MJPEG instea
