I work as faculty member in Civil Engineering Department and have been teaching Structural Design Course for the last two years. We are following ACI code here in Pakistan and currently research is being conducted to update Pakistan Building Code - Seismic Provisions 2007. I can review the codes and prepare a presentation describing the codes within 3 weeks. If we aim the training to be beneficial for trainees, we should concentrate on the content of the codes rather than the structural engineering training. I think, we should departmentalize the presentation and the training period . According to the sections, we carry out the training in 2 or 3 days. We can make an exam to evaluate the understanding level of trainees last day. Actually, I need to know How many days you predict for the training. Generally, structures are designed to withstand against two main load types such as dead loads and dynamic loads. Codes must have the rules to provide this resistance for the stuctures. If you comply with the criteria of the codes, you ensure that your structure can resist to dead and dynamic loads such as earthquake, wind, moving loads. Even if the trainees do not have, the lecturer must have the knowledge about the reason of the rules. This is only possible doing the static, dynamic and structural design of the structures. I am designing the structures for years. I easyly answer trainees' questions related with foundation of the codes. I suppose the codes are relevant the building of the structures rather than the design. Please inform me regard to your requirements, schedules, expectations and further details of the project.
