Hi, I have plenty of experience with mod_proxy using mod_proxy_balancer and apache fronting tomcat 7 j2ee apps. Lots of clustering experience, I personally would recommend you avoid mod_proxy_balancer though if you want to scale and do more complex setups. HAproxy would be better suited. But for small setups and easy of use apache will do fine and easy enough to setup as desired. I'm new to freelancer as I'm on 6 months parental leave from work where we run many public facing j2ee webapps under tomcat in the cloud.
