We have a regular stream of transcription work and, accordingly, need more people to help us! We are looking for an additional, reliable individual or team who can take dictation files (in Olympus DSS Pro format or AIFF) and type these into provided Microsoft Word template reports.
There are two parts to this.
Firstly, we are keen to appoint someone almost immediately to take approximately 1 audio hour and type it up in the next few hours. They are medium quality recordings with Australian accents. Accordingly, if you are able to work over the next 8 hours and guarantee to complete the task to quality expectations, then we can commit to this virtually immediately.
Secondly, going forward, there is likely to be additional transcription for you to do. The volume of work will be ad hoc, but we have a preference to find someone who we can use on a repeated basis. So, if you do a good job on the first task, then there is likely to be ongoing work.
You must be accurate, reliable and have a strong attention to detail, including spelling and formatting. You must be able to consistently offer a turnaround in under 24 hours or less ie we will send them to you end of the day Sydney time and prefer turnaround by the morning Sydney time. Our expectation is that you will check your work and meet deadlines and accuracy expectations.
We've found some good people on Freelancer in the past, some of whom we continue to work with. Both quality and reliability are important to us. In other words, we expect you to be able to commit to deadlines and produce good work--if you cannot do both, then please don't bid.

3. Please let us know of your experience in doing transcription work like this and what software and playback equipment you have.

I have worked as a freelance transcriptionist for over 5 years. In this time I have transcribed countless interviews for major academic research projects at the University of Alberta and the University of Edinburgh.
