Dear Rustyknuckler, I am expert of wordpress. I already have done a job which is 95% similar to this one. In my previous job all categories are listed as click-able links and on-click on a category link a new page opens which shows all posts of currently logged-in user under that category. In your case you want to show authors. and o- click on author link, page should display all posts of that author, no matter what the category is.
