Decriminalize Sex Work (DSW) is a national nonprofit advocacy organization in the United States. DSW is seeking video editors, video animators, and infographic designers for periodic contract work. DSW would prefer to work with one person (or team), but DSW is also amenable to working with different people for each of the three areas of production. The ideal contractor would: ● Have considerable professional experience in the production area for which they are applying. ● Speak and write English proficiently. ● Have good communication skills in order to communicate effectively with the DSW staff (as opposed to external communications). ● Follow instructions and agreements. ● Contribute to creative ideas. ● Transform the DSW staff’s ideas into high-quality, creative final products. ● Incorporate feedback during the creative process. ● Provide realistic expectations of workflow and time needed to tackle specific projects. ● Produce work quickly. ● Be available for periodic and sometimes irregular work. ● Work remotely from the DSW staff. ● Be ideologically supportive of DSW’s organizational mission. Video editing: ● Refine raw video footage from conferences, webinars, lectures, and other events into shorter final products to be posted online. ● Create video stories using footage provided by DSW, as well as stock footage/graphics. Video animation: ● Work with the DSW communications staff to transform messages into animated shorts. For example, whiteboard and other explainer videos. ● Create an animated logo to appear at the beginning or end of videos. Infographics: ● Transform DSW’s series of one-page briefing papers into visual depictions. EXAMPLE OF FIRST SERIES OF WORK: We want to make a series of short explainer videos using one-pagers about various topics. We envision each one-pager could become its own short video. We have topics like: "Criminal Justice Reform and Sex Work" "Immigration and Sex Work" and "Why Feminist Should Support Decriminalizing Sex Work". Attached is "New Zealand: Best Exampled of Decriminalized Sex Work" as an example of our one-pagers. Does the applicant possess the production capabilities to transform our one-pagers into high-quality videos - meaning: 1) transform one pager into a script, 2) create a storyboard that is appropriate to our mission and brand, 3) choose an appropriate voice actor (although we might have an actor) 4) give us a final product that we would be very proud of. If this is something you feel capable of doing, we'd like to learn about your process and see whether we are able to communicate well with one another. If your process and capabilities seem to match our needs, we would hire you to one video and if you make that one perfect, we would then hire you do the rest of the series. I suspect we would like to do 10 or more videos in total.
