This is a project for Mr. Data only.
Dye Sensitized Solar Cells Dyes Review Co-sensitizers
Dyes like N3, N719 are comprised of ruthenium or cobalt or other heavy metals.
They are difficult to make, and are expensive, and some consumers do not like metals.
We prefer metal-free dyes with good performance, stock dyes from major chemical distributors like Aldrich, or dyes we can synthesize in one pot, or two steps (two pots).
The dyes have carboxylate or phosphonate groups which adhere strongly to the titanium dioxide particles.
These dyes are typically comprised of a base molecule, for example, an anthracene base; comprised of substituents; and comprised of the carboxylate group or phosphonic group.
In this review you will survey dozens and dozens of scientific articles about dyes for dye-sensitized solar cells. In this review you will survey dozens and dozens of expired patents about dyes for dye-sensitized solar cells.
In general natural dyes are not pure enough nor effective enough. Synthetic dyes generally outperform natural dyes.
We prefer dyes comprised of molecules and substituents we can purchase from USA based chemical distributors. If the chemical is not available in the USA, then it does not qualify for this survey.
A good internet resource for commercial chemicals :
Good sources of information are American Chemical Society, Science Direct, Web of Science, [login to view URL] Scholar Google, Patents Google, [login to view URL]
As you review these patents and article abstracts on the internet, you internet browser records a history of the patents and articles and abstracts you survey.
Milestone A : You will copy and paste your browsing history from your internet browser which shows what you have surveyed, and send us your browsing history in a spreadsheet or word document.
Milestone B : You will prepare a simple spreadsheet or word document comprised of the following information for each dye :
Dye name or CAS number or C.I. number ; article or abstract or patent number or title; example USA based chemical distributor who distributes the finished dye or chemical precursors, dye effeciency %.
One intriguing means of doing this project is to choose a common dye like copper phthalocyanine, and use the similar search tools in the chemical databases to look at similar chemicals, and then search for the chemical and the keywords "solar cell" or photovoltaic or dye sensitized in the literature databases.
okay this is easy but give me 3 days to finish it well
