Graduate School Essay Editor (Freelance)

Job Responsibilities Include: • Working with students to craft stellar admissions essay • Read content and correct for errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar • Verify facts using standard reference sources • Plan the content of digital media and publications according to the publication’s style and editorial policy • Approve draft versions submitted by writers and advisors • Maintaining a steady pace to ensure that students meet all application deadlines • Participating in required trainings and maintain a high level of consistency in accordance with training manuals • Delivering a high level of customer service to students and parents alike Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in English, Comparative Literature, Education, Journalism, or other related field • Prior experience tutoring and working with students one-on-one on writing assignments • Stellar writing and communication skills • Excellent judgment and the ability to work independently • Impeccable attention to detail • Superior organizational and time management skills • Professional email and phone communications • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Grammarly • Availability and willingness to virtually meet and talk with students on an as-needed basis • Subject to client confidentiality terms Preferred Job Qualifications: • Prior work experience as a college admissions officer, guidance counselor, college essay writing coach, high school English teacher or college prep professional • Experience specifically teaching the college essay/personal statement either one-on-one or in a class environment • Basic working proficiency in Chinese To apply, please email a resume, your desired hourly pay range and writing sample of your choice (preferably something creative and related to application essays)to [see email in app] with the subject line: Grad School Essay Editor Applicant: FULL NAME.
