Attached are some pictures of a steep stair case in our house. My kids run and play around the house all the time. A few times they have come close to falling down and killing themselves. I don't want to lock them out with locked gates. I want them to have the freedom to move up and down as they wish. We have grip tape and a hand rail already. I don't want something that "prevents" them from falling (because nothing is guaranteed), rather I want a design that if they fall they won't hurt themselves. I'm open to anything. Some ideas I've had already are a few chicanes so if they fall they will only fall a few steps and crash into a chicane. Another idea would be a slide or something but we'd still need to be able to get up. I want an idea/design of something that I can build or have built for me or some product I can buy.
