I am a qualified proofreader and member of the Society for Editors & Proofreaders (SfEP). I was recently asked to review the SfEP guidance documentation on proofreading theses and dissertations, which means I have a clear understanding of the requirements of proofreading academic papers and have recent experience of editing some.
I have proof-edited several books for publishers and authors, receiving excellent feedback on the quality, clarity and added value of my work. I have also been awarded ‘difficult’ projects due to my thoroughness and eye for detail. I pride myself on doing an excellent job, my reliability and meeting tight deadlines.
In addition, during my previous career in local government finance, internal audit and corporate governance, I gained an MBA (Distinction) and wrote, reviewed, edited and proofread over 1,000 reports.
My services for you includes:
Proof-edit your paper, i.e. check grammar, punctuation, spelling, inconsistencies etc; although I cannot alter the content or rewrite your theory.
Help in the formatting of your work, e.g. numbering systems, checking heading capitalisation etc. (you would need to provide a guide from the academic institution)
Review the setting out of references and check for cross-references; although I cannot check that references are correct.
Correct or query an error that is clearly common knowledge and is simply a mistake or mistyping; although I cannot carry out any checks on statements or facts contained in your work.
