"Who should we hire?" she whispered to the brown cat perched on the window sill.
The cat meowed.
"Good point. Maybe we ought to consider a native English speaker. What else?"
Purrrr, came the response.
"Yes! Someone who has been published in major US publications sounds just right. Any other ideas?"
The cat looked out the window, as if deep in thought. Suddenly he jerked his head around and wrinkled his whiskers. He looked on the floor, where several job proposals had fallen off Dad's desk.
THUD. In an instant, he leapt from the ledge onto the floor and landed on an application. He moved his paw back and scratched at the name.
"Jess Fields. Who's that?"
She grabbed the paper and began to read.
"Pretty good reviews. He's been published, which I like. Oh wow! He's got a four year old daughter! He must know a lot about children's stories. What do you think?"
Purrr, said the cat.
"He says here that he can get the job done in a few days and is very punctual. And... wow!"
She gasped. "It even says he guarantees satisfaction with his work, or we don't have to pay him!"
Meowwww! said the cat.
"That settles it. Maybe he's a little more than the others, but I'll tell Dad to hire him."
