Synology DS415+ (4-bay SATA NAS) is dead by motherboard (confirmed). There were 4x 1TB WD drives in something so called SHR (Synology Hybrid Raid) - which supposed to be enhancement of RAID-5 (first two partitions for system only.)

Now I need to assembly this array , but not very familiar with MDADM. So looking for someone to finish it. I made images out of drives (by the dd command), images are attached as loop devices (losetup), but mdadm awaits.

Be serious, only for guys with experience ... it's a home device ... in case of any fail, re-copying of images takes eternity.

Hi, So this is my understanding. 1. Your synology h/w is dead and you need to recover the data from your synology disks which are in RAID5. It is "almost" possible to recover data using a Linux (Ubuntu) system. More

Hello! I had such situations with Synology. there is not only MDADM but also LVM volumes inside. so you have to install both utilities.
