The role We are seeking an experienced Email Developer/Automation Specialist to build, implement, test and maintain all eDM campaigns across the carsales network. Reporting into the Head of Retention Marketing, your role will play an integral part in developing our member engagement strategy through effective, mobile-optimised communication that supports the buying, selling and ownership journey on carsales. You will develop responsive templates in line with brand guidelines, set up supporting campaign assets, create complex emails for customer journeys, and conduct extensive QA to identify and rectify display, rendering and deliverability issues. The role requires a thorough understanding of front-end development languages, processes and technologies, responsive web design principles, and email browser and client capabilities. What you’ll do Hand-coding complex responsive eDMs and templates using best-practice HTML/CSS guidelines and media queries for optimal responsive rendering, deliverability, and conversion. Ensuring that eDM functions across all browsers, email providers and devices. Managing the build of all member emails including email testing for functionality and rendering quality, image management and dynamic content Developing and implementing personalised, relevant and trigger-based communications Providing support to the Marketing Automation Manager to develop and improve processes and tools to enable better planning and execution of eDM campaigns and programs Advise, collaborate with, and synthesise feedback from UX designers and researchers – both internal and external Continually enhance marketing communications to apply past campaigns learnings and optimisation recommendations What we're looking for Extensive experience in a web, front-end or email development role. Having experience in digital design would be a bonus but an eye for design will be highly regarded. Strong knowledge and experience of hand-coding HTML, Java Script and CSS for eDM Qualifications in Web Design and Development, Computer Science or similar discipline Strong awareness of the application of email design and development, usability and best practices Experienced in testing and troubleshooting in multiple browsers or email clients with a strong sense of UX design and fundamentals Experience with Responsys Interact or similar marketing automation tools preferred Exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal. You'll be able to strike up a conversation with anyone across the business from tech to marketing and everyone in between.
