I have the equation x-(x^4)/8=0. I know this has solutions at x = 0 or x =2. This is the answer I want my calculator to tell me. Currently if I use factor(x-(x^4)/8=0) I get an incorrect answer (well it isn't x=0 or x=2). $20 for correct instructions on how to get this output.

x-x^4/8=0 =>x(1-x^3/8)=0 => x = 0, x^3/8 -1 = 0 => x = 0, x=2 Do you need to algorithm/programming? if so, algorithm is different. should consider the roots for the blow equitation: i can give a detailed program instruction for you if bid succeed.

Hi, I can able to give answer with instructions on this window however, i would be happy if you offer development stuff in this respect or any other DB, .NET, C# related technologies. Answer for your query is 2 only step 1: X-( X^4)/8=0 Step 2: take LCM then you will be reaching( 8X-X^4)/8=0 Step3: Cross multiplication 8X-X^4=0 Step 4: sign change and equation happens here so 8X=X^4 Step 5: X^4/X=8 ( trying to arrive value for X ) Step6: X^4-1=8 ( here x is in the division so we need to deduct the DR value from NR- numerator X which is X^4- X) Step7: X^3 = 8 Step8: X^3=2^3 so the answer is X =2 ( both has same power which get cancelled to reach X value) Hurray! thanks for reading, Kindly let me know if you need more explanations.

x^4-x/8=0 •factorize the expression x(x^3-1)/8=0 •multiply the two sides by 1/8 to eliminate the denominator 8 x(x^3-1)/8.1/8=0.1/8 •we get: x(x^3-1)=0 •divide the possible cases x=0 or x^3-1=0 •solving the equation x^3-1=0 we get: x=1 •so as a solution, we have: x=0 or x=1 Thank’s
