I have a Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Express with a database. I'm able to log in from the server itself and I'm able to create an ODBC connection (which will be used by an application) on the server itself. However from another desktop machine (which is on the same network and from which the server is properly accessible in form of Windows folder shares) I'm not able to connect to the SQL Server, I'm not able to set up the ODBC connection. I tried to check all possible settings without any success, hence I need an experts help. The project is to solve this connectivity problem. You willnot get direct access to the server or to the machine, so you will have let me know what and where to check and I will follow your suggestions. In case this will not bring any results, we will find a way that you get access to the server and the desktop machine.

try to turn off the firewall of the sql server. If it fixes then you need to add.a rule in firewall.
