I am looking for a book illustrator. This involves a complete cover design and some illustrations for inside the book. The story is set in Japan and the illustrations will covey the story - people in a love triangle in a contemporary Japanese setting (Tokyo). Technical expertise is important but I am particularly concerned that the artist can compose pictures that convey complex and ambiguous emotions. Images of characters must be compelling and the settings intriguing. The story is romantic but dark. Also, I want a Japanese feeling to the artwork - ukiyoe woodblock print, or ink brushwork with color wash, or some anime style (though not for children.) I imagine starting with one image to see if we can find a fit and progressing from there. If interested please contact me.
