You get a portrait photo in JPEG format depicting a single person or group of people. In a case of group photo the person need to be processed is marked with blue dot sign. You need to create a mask for hairs with the best accuracy. Every single curl, strand, wisp, every pixel related to hairs should be included. No pixels not related to the hair should be included.
Instruction how to create a masks in Photoshop (you have to follow this instruction strictly):
Learn hair masking techniques by the following tutorial: [login to view URL]
For every photo out of 200 you should create, test and save mask:
Create mask: create a black and white mask for hairs on your work photo:
Select all hairs accurately according to the tutorial
For more accurate result use not only black and white "brush" tool in overlay mode as in tutorial but use "dodge" and "burn" tools as well. It helps to add contrast for small details in the mask
Please note following:
the first priority is all hairs must be included in the mask
the second priority is all segments except hairs should be excluded from the mask
Test mask: check the quality your result by these steps (see .psd files in sample files):
Create a copy of the "Background" layer (original photo) and rename it to the "test" layer
Apply mask you have created in the previous steps to this layer
Apply "color overlay" effect (click the "fx" icon in the bottom of the "layers" menu and choose "color overlay")
Choose some bright and contrast color to the hairs (for example #df62cc in "Hard light" or "Overlay" mode)
Create a black or white solid layer with 50% opacity, place it between "test" and "Background" layers and name it "shading (see .psd files in sample files).
You can see the result of your work in a contrasting way. Check it and fix all inaccurate segments to improve your result.
