Drupal input filter module

We need to create a module for a Drupal website. The module will implement 3 input custom filters we need. The input filter should work like the rest of standard Drupal custom filters: check submitted text with a regular expression, and replace on that text following patterns we specify. The module needs to be coded because we need to do some text manipulation that cannot be achieved with typical custom input filter modules (as far as we know).
